Scarecrows for mice on Vietnamese fields

Vietnamese farmers have resorted to using puppets to protect their fields from mice and birds for many generations, making it a sort of folk art.

In the past, puppets were made from woven straw, but their modern equivalents are made from different kinds of materials. Cloth, a set of clothes and a hat will suffice to drive birds away from the fields. Puppets are used less and less for this purpose.
